The Association of Welding and Non-Destructive Testing was established in 1979 by a group of volunteer experts from industry, universities, and research institutions, with the aim of developing welding and non-destructive testing in Iran. It was officially registered on June 20, 1990, and recognized by the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology as the only national, academic, private, and legitimate association in this field.

Since its inception, the Association has relied on the scientific, technical, and executive capabilities of its members to play a central role in advancing technical knowledge and professional standards in welding, inspection, and non-destructive testing.

Over the years, the Association has provided a wide range of scientific, technical, and professional services, including preparation of WPS and PQR, development of technical guidelines and regulations, and consulting services for organizations, industries, and governmental bodies. It has also actively participated in the development, revision, and contribution to national, association-based, and international standards, as well as specialized terminology development in relevant authoritative institutions.

Other key activities of the Association include publishing scientific-research, scientific-technical, and conference papers, producing electronic newsletters, authoring specialized books, and developing educational manuals in the field of welding and non-destructive testing. These initiatives aim to disseminate and transfer technical knowledge to the academic and industrial community in Iran.

Additionally, the Association organizes national and international conferences and seminars, specialized training courses and workshops, short-term scientific meetings, and industrial visits. It also conducts ceremonies honoring industry veterans, recognizing outstanding research and theses, celebrating top innovations and inventions, and hosting specialized photography and graphic design competitions in the welding and inspection industry. All of these efforts contribute to enhancing knowledge, skills, and professional culture in the field.

Collectively, these initiatives demonstrate the Association’s continuous, purposeful, and effective efforts in providing a diverse range of scientific and professional services to the academic, industrial, and professional community in welding and non-destructive testing in Iran.
